Pak Norela

The news coming out of Florida today is terrible and heart-breaking, so here’s a really cute picture of my host brother’s newborn daughter, Norela. She’s about a month old.

Before I left for a hike out to an old tree (supposedly one of the oldest in the area?) with some of the other volunteers, I helped my host brother’s (Elham) wife (Mejreme) feed her and then I rocked her to sleep and sang “Wayfaring Stranger” to her as a lullaby. She’s not doing much yet but she’s already got a pretty firm handshake and a lovely smile.
